The Western Canadian Marxist Summer School is less than a month away! Join us in Edmonton, Alberta for two days of discussion on this year’s theme: The Philosophy of Revolution.
Socialist revolution cannot be won without a fierce struggle against the ideas of the capitalist class. For hundreds of years, the capitalists have been trying to undermine, discredit and slander the ideas of Marxism. In everything from academic papers to history books to news articles, we constantly hear that Marxism is outdated and disproven. Yet it is just as common to hear that Marxist ideas lead straight to violence and dictatorship. According to the capitalists, Marxism is both pathetically useless and extremely powerful!
Clearly, the capitalists will say whatever it takes to attack Marxism because they are terrified of its strength. This is because Marxism is the only philosophy which truly explains the horrible conditions we find ourselves in today. Even more terrifying to the capitalists, it shows the way forward through socialist revolution.
Therefore, the ruling class’s hatred of Marxism proves just how powerful of a tool it is to the working class.
Every year, mass movements and revolutions prove that the working class has the potential to change the world. What’s needed to make that potential a reality is a leadership armed with the ideas of Marxism.
