Where: Zoom
When: 7pm, March 24, 2021
The need for free education has never clearer. Before the crisis, many students were already teetering on a financial cliff. And the crisis has put over 20% of young people out of work. Tuition has gone up 7%, and it is set to keep going up. This has pushed many working-class students, already teetering on the financial cliff, over the edge.
But free tuition won’t come just from asking nicely. The students have been playing nice. All they’ve gotten in return is tuition hikes, budget cuts, and Zoom University. Asking nicely isn’t enough—we need to fight.
The event will start with a short talk on the impact of the crisis (and the UCP’s austerity) on students and why free education is so desperately needed. We will also explain how, using militant tactics, we can win. The talk will be followed by a discussion period where attendees can ask questions, share their thoughts and struggles, and put forward their opinion on how we can fight for a better future—a future where all can enjoy free, universal post-secondary education.
